RabbitMQ is the established open-source message broker, used in integration estates that need queueing, pub/sub and routing without going all-in on a cloud-vendor's managed service.
Patchworks uses RabbitMQ as a backbone for event-driven integration, with topics carrying operational events between systems. Retry, dead-letter handling and replay semantics are first-class concerns. The design effort is in the topology · exchanges, queues, routing keys · and the operational ownership of the broker itself.
