Pub/Sub is Google Cloud's managed message broker. It handles the asynchronous, event-driven plumbing for integration estates that need to scale beyond synchronous request/response patterns.
Patchworks uses Pub/Sub as a backbone for event-driven integration. Topics carry order events, fulfilment milestones, inventory changes and operational signals between systems. Retry, replay, dead-letter handling and delivery semantics are first-class concerns rather than afterthoughts.
The integrations that benefit most from Pub/Sub are the ones where systems do not need to know about each other directly. The design effort is in deciding what the events mean, not what the broker does.
