Klaviyo is the dominant ecommerce CRM and email platform for Shopify-first retailers, with steadily growing traction outside the Shopify ecosystem. The differentiator is the data model: events, profiles and metrics rather than just lists.
Patchworks integrates Klaviyo via its events API. Order events, fulfilment milestones, return events and custom triggers from operational systems land as profile properties and metric events. Behavioural flows and segments key off this data, so the freshness and the granularity matter more than they do for traditional ESPs.
The design work is in deciding what to send and at what granularity. Klaviyo will accept everything; marketing teams pay for ingestion and clutter quickly buries the segments that actually drive revenue.
